A new way to help manage ACNE: La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo (+) SPF 30 and Serozinc

Had the opportunity to attend the Effaclar Derm Class 2018 a few weeks ago  organised by La Roche-Posay where they launched the newly improved Effaclar Duo(+) on its enhanced efficacy in just 12 hours upon application. The highlight of the event was the Derm Class where they break down myths about acne and tips to stop acne recurrence.

The following crucial ingredients are what made the newly-formulated Effaclar Duo(+) 2018 effective to tackle acne and red spots:

APF + Mannose: Natural prebiotic derived from a bacterium that promotes “friendly” bacteria, rebalance mircuoblane and stimulate skin’s natural immunity

Niacinamide: To reduce inflammation

Zinc PCA: Reduces sebum secretion

Procerad: Prevents post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation(post acne marks)

Recurring acne on my cheeks and chin has always been a problem I struggle with and I am always very cautious about the skincare products I used. I’ve heard a lot about La Roche-Posay and how their products are good for sensitive skin but I was surprised to know that their skincare also caters for acne-prone skin (yay!)

First up-  I have been using the Effaclar Duo(+) for awhile now and it’s now my holy grail product in my skincare routine. The cream does not feel heavy upon application and it helps to soothe my angry and swollen breakouts after a few days of usage! The Effaclar Duo(+) also comes with an SPF 30 formula – the texture is similar to the one without the SPF formula and great to use underneath makeup. I like how it does not feel sticky on my face yet offers enough sunscreen protection unlike other sunscreens which may even leave a white cast – which is a big no-no.

Next, Serozinc.

SEROZINC acts like a toner and oil blotter – a great way to touch up during mid day without affecting the makeup. Using oil blotting sheets may trigger even more sebum production but SEROZINC does not, it leaves a cooling sensation on my skin upon application and even eliminates the “shine” on my face. This is perfect for our sunny SG weather.

However, one downside is the product packaging as I had difficulty with the nozzle while trying the product so I hope this area could be improved, but no complaints on the product itself 🙂

Overall I have a really positive experience with the above 2 products and I would recommend you to try them.

  1. Hey there, can share which steps come first for daily routine? You apply effaclar duo or serozinc first?

    1. serozinc is the first step, right after you wash your face. The effaclar duo can be used after your usual toner, serum, moisturizer.. hope this helps! Thanks!
