Japan Winter train tour with JR Rail Pass – Part 7

Hi

Today will be the last 2 days of our trip. We took bus to Kawaguchi-ko station, took a Fujikyu train to JR Otsuki station, then a Ltd Express train to Tokyo and finally Shinkansen to Kyoto. Sounds complicated, well it’s not, not really, it just took a long time. So as soon as we arrived in Kyoto, we checked in, went out for dinner (and some gashapon hunting) and straight to sleep. Because the next day we gonna wake up early to go to Arashiyama!

Yes as you can see.. there are some people around already. This can only mean one thing, that is, we woke up late again. It’s our way of life, waking up late for stuff… not saying it’s a good thing, of course.

Unique drain covers all over the country, check out this Pokemon one at Kyoto.

The fames % arabica Arashiyama branch. Never seen such a short queue before.

This “private room” can be rented for 30mins at ¥1000. Where you probably can sit there and enjoy a cuppa in peace while everyone else will be queuing next door, ordering in all sorts of foreign accents. The baristas will have a permanent RBF on the whole time. We didn’t book this room though, I’m one of the foreigners in the queue ordering a cuppa in my Singlish accent.

We can take this boat/ferry to other locations along the Katsura River. But we never take it.

We opt to walk, because I’m a cheapo. Then again we have to walk to see the famed bamboo forest.

Then we climb a small hill next to the bamboo forest for this view.

Then we walked down to the river, the sun is setting and the wind is rising so we are slowly freezing.

And that concludes our trip. This last day is basically us walking aimlessly in Arashiyama. Experiencing small and random discoveries around this place we visited before.

I don’t know when will we come back again. I love visiting this country. It’s beautiful all year round. With many little corners waiting to be discovered. Hope to be back again. With my favourite person.
