Hi,
Too lazy, so its gonna be another photo drop.
Basically this is the last day for us in Nikko, we decided to just walk around the UNESCO World Heritage shrines and temples here. Really impressive.
We first walk to Tōshō-gū Shrine (日光東照宮)

We were looking for the Sleeping Cat ( Nemuri Neko) at Tōshō-gū Shrine… We saw a sign that pointed up, so I assumed the ‘up’ means to go through the doorway. So like many other people, we proceeded pass the doorway and climb up to the summit wherethe tomb of Tokugawa Ieyasu lies. While the tranquility of the summit area was impressive, we didn’t find the cat anywhere..

Feeling a dejected, we went back down to the main shrine. While we were taking a short break, I noticed a group of people taking photos at the doorway where we saw the sleeping cat signage. I went over and immediately noticed the wood carving above the doorway…

Damn it.

Sun sets really early this time of the year (November 2022), we went to the souvenir shops area where we had a hot bowl of tomato yuba ramen. I think this was the shop, seems like its still in business, just not open at the moment.

It wasn’t particularly good, but it warmed our bodies 5-6 years ago on our first trip to Japan, when we were severely underdressed.
And with that, we made our way back to the ryokan and slept our last night here away.
