Gum treatment and My Wisdom Tooth Surgery (and Dry socket) Experience!

Today Im finally posting my gum treatment and wisdom tooth surgery at Q&M Seletar Mall. This post was created a few mths ago and every now and then I come to update abit lol!

So to recap, I mentioned that my tooth has been aching for awhile now. The exact location is on the left side of my mouth but I have no idea which tooth is it. I tried knocking on every single one of them but they don’t seem to have any problem when I knock so I thought the pain could be due to sinus.

I really hate going to the dentist and I tried to delay as much as I could. I was perfectly okay in Seoul, the teeth didn’t give me problem so I thought it could be stress induced. LOL.

And then I came back and the pain got worse. Previously it felt more like a sensitive tooth, it only hurt when I drink hot and cold drinks but then the pain starts to become a sharp and persistent one.

I took a day off from work and called the nearest clinic and I managed to get an appointment in the afternoon on the same day.

Fast forward to the appointment, the dentist said that my teeth looks okay (I was like heng ah don’t need to do root canal can save $2k) except that the GUM IS REALLY BAD (need to pay $200 for gum treatment) AND THAT MY WISDOM TOOTH IS IMPACTED (WISDOM TOOTH SURGERY!!!)

I wasn’t ready for the surgery and I was already trembling LOL! He said the cause of my toothache could be due to my wisdom tooth and also because of my gum.

He said I should remove 2 wisdom tooth but one of them still looks fine so that one still can wait. But I have to remove the one that is already causing me problems.

As if things couldnt get more worse, he said I can do it right away. One thing about me is I am really spontaneous, I agreed without considering any other factors. Maybe Im just happy that I would be given 5 days MC. Can claim from company also so why not right haha.

Sorry people don’t see I look very clean on the outside, I actually haven’t clean my teeth for 4years. :X Okay don’t judge.

So I guess not going to the dentist for 4 years isn’t a good thing since my teeth is really dirty, and my gum is already receding.

Dr S helped me with the gum treatment first and it was actually really uncomfortable. Not painful but really uncomfortable. I dont know how to describe but it felt alot like ppl operating on your teeth and digging your gums. Deep clean man omg.

Then he asked me to go get something to eat cos I wouldnt be able to eat solid food for the next week at least. I called Simon after that and Simon was like its okay one not so painful. You will feel better after the medicine.

Dr S also said that it is not that scary as it sounds, and I would be fine after a few days. I had to eat lunch first before he can do anything to my tooth so I went to Song Fa Bak Kut Teh, finish the whole bowl of rice, all the 3 spare ribs and a bowl of youtiao.

Panic already still care about calories meh?

I wanted to eat the fish and fries from Mcdee one lor. Suan liao..

Went back to Q&M at 4pm. Time to face the reality.

Xray was already done before I had my lunch so I had to had my injection first. Basically the procedure is pretty straightforward.

Endure the injection, I think it’s about 4 times? 4 times for one tooth hor. You will definitely feel the needle going into your gum. My tolerance for pain is quite high la so over here still okay.
I think he is supposed to wait for awhile before cutting/pulling/digging out my tooth? But the wait was quite short. This part was quite funny by the way cos he was like trying really hard to pull the tooth out and I can totally hear the sound, feel the pressure but it was not painful at all. Nightmare havent come lah..
Took about 5 to 10 mins and its done! I was still feeling numb around my cheeks, mouth and jaw area and then the receptionist walked me through the after care and what I can and cant eat. BUT SHE NEVER TELL ME ABOUT DRY SOCKET.

Let me get to the dry socket in a while..

These are the painkillers (I’m allergic to some) and mouthwash given to me since I wont be able to brush my teeth for awhile. The gauze is for the bleeding but you have to make sure YOU DO NOT DISLODGE THE BLOOD CLOT.

AND NEVER NEVER NEVER USE STRAW TO DRINK ANYTHING WHEN YOU HAVE JUST DONE YOUR WISDOM TOOTH SURGERY.

The suction from the straw can cause the clot to be dislodged!

Because that’s probably what happened to me. Dry socket is SO PAINFUL I CANNOT HANDLE. Remember I said before my pain tolerance is very high?? This shit is so serious I cried at home and at night.

Starting to feel weird why it’s so painful.

See I can’t even move and I just keep crying. I didn’t know cannot use straw luh..

I felt much better the next day but my face is starting to look like a pig. I basically just eat mash potatoes and instant soup. It was miserable I was so hungry lor.
