[S-series] Uniqlo LifeWear Spring/Summer 2017

Why do we get dressed?

That’s the first thing that hit me when I went to the Uniqlo LifeWear Spring/Summer 2017 preview. When I ask myself this question, well, the first thing that came to my mind is to hide. The way I dress is a little bit what I want to wear, and a little bit ‘blending in’. During the weekdays, I dressed in a casual shirt and solid coloured pants combo. My wardrobe consist of 80% oxford shirts of varying colours and sleeve length. The other 20% are all checkered shirts in different colours and weave. Flannel, cotton, broadcloth, etc.. All made of comfy cotton. Blending in to me is like wearing the common less adventurous colours and prints. I observe my surroundings and see what other people wear, if I don’t find it weird, I can adopt it. And so I kinda dress like my surround people and thus, I blend into the background… Stealthy is like the epitome for a hermit-like, very introverted person like me.

Annnyways, after all the gibberish above, I just wanna say… Uniqlo is going to launch their Uniqlo LifeWear Spring/Summer 2017 range because Spring is coming.. Its not obvious here because Singapore doesn’t have 4 seasons, only hot and humid or raining and humid.. Well Uniqlo LifeWear designs clothing that anyone can wear anytime, being ourselves. Comfortable clothes that truly reflects our lifestyles, complementing our physical outlook and reflects our individuality, through our choices of clothes. Maybe its because they made such a wide variety of clothes that they can say things like that right?

So for us, the standard drill is: Claire got invited to the preview -> I went with her -> I take the photos and she’ll do all the talking -> I sometimes write the post for her. Because she mainly does travel, beauty and weightloss. I’ll do the rest..

UT is coming out with band T-shirts, we’re so gonna buy one. Claire is holding the Aerosmith one and she mentioned that she like the vintage-looking black trims. The staff on the ground showed us quite a number of street-wear inspired tees and more of the awesome SPRZ NY line.

The sports line now available for females as well, I didn’t know there’s only men’s available here before. Now offering a wider range of styles for different sporting needs to enhance the technical needs of athletes and wannabes (like me). The Dry Ex clothes will suit us well with our sweltering heat and humidity. We need the sweat wicking features or we will surely smell like salted fishes prancing the streets.

The Ines De La Fressange line is in my opinion, one of the highlights in this preview. The pieces draw inspiration from the scenery in Marseilles, France. The collaboration showcases indigo with berry accents that seems to spew rays of sunshine and sea breezes. Claire fell in love with the vintage prints she almost wanted to ask if she can buy it at that time. This line will launch in 2 batches, first in January (launched by now) and second on 24 February 2017.

Check out their range here.

There’s also the AIRism line that I use too, to prevent myself from sweating like a cow… Even though I’m born in the year of the Ox, I don’t enjoy sweating.. I sometimes wear an AIRism tee under my shirt to absorb the sweat, but whenever I sweat, the tee ‘turns cool’. I’m not too sure how it works but it seems to encourage evaporation which in turn becomes like a wearable air-con device. Cool stuff.

The Uniqlo U is also another awesome range that gives us tons of quality for cheap. The articles they design are clean, functional and of a higher quality compared to the rest of Uniqlo’s arsenal, at just a slightly higher price point. I think its good value considering you can only get the same type of features paying at least double the price if you buy from famous brands.

All in all, Uniqlo will always be in my wardrobe. I shop there at least once a month, buying all my essentials from them. I’ll always be on the lookout for new stuff they have to offer and refresh my wardrobe. If you’re the same as me, go sign up for their newsletter and be informed whenever there is a sale. I always go for the sale items too. Cheapo me.

Don’t say I bo jio. Cheers people.
